Seabank, ANZ-Vtrac Financial Leasing increase charter capital
HA NOI — Southeast Asia Bank (Seabank) has been approved to increase its charter capital by the State Bank of Viet Nam from VND3 trillion (US$171.4 million) to more than VND4 trillion ($232.45 million).
The increase of the capital is part of Seabank’s plan to create favourable conditions for expanding its operations network by investing in facilities and technology, said Nguyen Thi Nga, chairwoman of Seabank’s management board.
The State Bank has also approved ANZ-Vtrac Financial Leasing Company, a wholly-foreign invested firm, to increase its charter capital from VND84 billion ($4.8 million) to VND103 billion ($5.88 million).
French financial firm opens branch in Ha Noi
HA NOI — Societe Generale Viet Finance Co Ltd has been approved by the State Bank of Viet Nam to set up its branch in Ha Noi.
The company set up by French Societe Generale Group in 2007 has a charter capital of VND520 billion ($29.7 million).
Can Tho 2009 spring trade fair opens in time for Tet
CAN THO — The Can Tho 2009 Spring Trade Fair began on Monday to provide a venue for consumers to buy goods for the approaching Tet festival.
The trade fair goes until January 11 and has 250 pavilions for enterprises based in HCM City and provinces in the southeast and Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta regions to sell their wares including electronics, interior decorations, garments, cosmetics, farming, seafood, processed food, beverages and confectionery products.
Nguyen Huu Loi, deputy chairman of the People’s Committee of Can Tho City, said this fair is a good opportunity for the enterprises’ trade promotion.
Saigonbank to provide foreign exchange services
HA NOI — Sai Gon Industrial and Trade Joint Stock Commercial Bank (Saigonbank) has been permitted by the State Bank to provide foreign exchange services for the domestic market.
The services include all kinds of transactions on foreign exchange, mobilisation of capital, lending and underwriting in foreign currencies.
The bank has registered at the State Bank to provide international payment and trading of foreign currencies on the international market.
Halong Tourist Express opens this month
HA NOI — The Halong Tourist Express train makes its debut this month.
The well appointed, five-coach train made in South Korea will make a daily trip from Gia Lam station to Ha Long. A one-way ticket will cost $20.
Seminar to focus on stock market
HCM CITY — The HCM City Stock Exchange is working with the Singapore group NextView on a seminar this Saturday on Viet Nam’s stock market. NextView CEO Stephen Lai said the seminar would provide basic knowledge on market analysis and how to invest effectively in a volatile market. Specialists speaking at the seminar would also analyse a number of the leading shares on the Vietnamese market.
Seafood processor lists on HOSE
HCM CITY — The Cai Doi Vam Seafood Processing and Exporting Joint Stock Co (Cadovimex) has become the 171st company listed on the HCM City Stock Exchange, providing improved liquidity for its eight million existing shares, now coded as CAD.
The Ca Mau Province-based company runs three processing establishments, with products including frozen shrimp and cuttlefish. It has 50ha of catfish farms and partners on another 50ha.
Chairman Vo Thanh Tien said the US was among his company’s major markets, followed by Japan, Hong Kong and the Middle East.
Cadovimex earned over VND932 billion (US$55 million) in 2008, compared to 2007’s VND886 billion. Its net profit, however, was only VND3.5 billion last year, down from VND20 billion in 2007.
Port company to pay 12% dividend
HA NOI — The Doan Xa Port Joint Stock Co (DXP) will pay a 12-per-cent cash dividend on February 11, announced the HCM City Stock Exchange.
Brokerage auctions 30m shares
HA NOI — The Agriculture Securities Co (Agriseco) auctioned over 30 million shares yesterday at the Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre. Offered at an initial price of VND10,500 per share, the highest bid was VND13,500 per share. — VNS
